Topic: Compound Subjects

EVALUATION

Teach the students how to recognize compound subjects upon sight. Students will be able to read or writ sentences and underline compound subjects.

Read over the introduction to compound subjects in class out loud. Choose students at random to identify the correct compound subjects. Assign students to do exercises individually, and then go over out loud, and pass out worksheets to ensure objective was mastered.

The students will answer questions relating to the objectives listed with 80% accuracy.

Review all the previous skills throughout the nine weeks:

Drawing conclusions

Prefixes, and suffixes, retelling and sequencing analogies, fiction and non-fiction, multiple meaning words, describing words, possessives, verbs, sentence patters, and r- controlled vowels.

Day: February  25-March 1, 2002

Subject: Reading

Topic: Reading Comprehension

OBJECTIVE

EVALUATION

Introduce new words that go with the story for the week. Ask students to define words. Go over pronunciation. Read the story ask students to explain what they’ve read. Pass out black construction paper and pieces of chalk. Ask students to draw the Night sky. Have students explain to fellow classmates Have Students use SFA workbooks, and answer questions on page 30 with 85% mastery.

 

Call on various students, ask questions about story and tell the meaning of words. Pass out worksheets that emphasize the use of words with the long I, igh sound. Quiz students on definitions, and spelling words.

Chalk, construction paper, over head projection, chalk board, SFA workbooks, reading text books, teachers- Manuel.

Students are able to identify meaning of various words upon sight. If I should call on students at random student will be able to spell words, pronounce, and use words in sentences. Students will know how to identify words with long I, and igh sounds.

Day: February 11-15, 2002/ Monday-Friday

Subject: Reading

Topic: Reading Comprehension, word recognition, past verb tense,

and R-controlled vowel /ar/, air, and ear

To teach the meanings of the key words within the story. Also the correct pronunciation of the word. I also want the students to omprehend what they have read with 90% mastery.

Write the words on the board, pronounce them, and go over the meaning. Read the story, while reading, ask students to re-tell me what they have just read. Make sentences with key words. Pass out worksheets that help with word recognition. Have spelling test. Make an assignment on Bats.

Topic: Commas in Sentences

Refresh the student’s knowledge on using commas in sentences. Given a worksheet the students will input commas within sentences with 85% accuracy.

Read through textbook and call upon various students to place commas in their correct places. Also let students work independantly to show his/her work.
